Spring 2024 budget: even more of the same

The government says that it’s cutting taxes for workers. But even after these cuts, we’re still being squeezed by energy companies, supermarkets and high street banks.

Cutting National Insurance will barely make a dent in our budgets. But it will tighten the screws on our public services yet again. That’s roads, schools, hospitals and investments in the economy that are badly needed.

We have to tax wealth – or we won’t survive the cost-of-living crisis.

We have to force taxes on wealth, not workers. This billionaire-backed government won’t do it, and Starmer’s Labour is little more than a Tory tribute act. At a time of real crisis in Britain, it’s unacceptable that we don’t have an alternative. A choice between the two main parties at the next general election is an offence to our democracy.

Transform is the only party in Britain that’s offering real change. We want to radically transform the economy from the root, tackling the systemic cause of problems rather than treating the symptoms. It’s time to build a society that works for everyone, not just a handful at the very top.

We deserve well-funded public services, and Britain has the money to afford a decent standard of living for all. In government, we would focus on taxing wealth, not income. It’s time for the mega-rich to pay their fair share.

Yesterday’s budget announcement is a reminder that this government will only offer us more of the same. We cannot afford to play safe if we want real change.
