General

election candidates

In the July 2024 General Election, Transform stood its own candidates, as well as supporting a number of independent socialist candidates. We’re proud to have played a part in the rise of the left independent movement which achieved such big gains in the General Election.

Brian agar – newton aycliffe and spennymoor

Brian has lived in County Durham for over 23 years. He’s been involved in running football teams all over the local area, and set up the first disabled team in Newton Aycliffe!

He’s running to increase local funding for public services; the NHS, schools, local transport, and care services all need a massive boost after 14 years of austerity.

rachel maughan

Rachel was born and raised in Bishop Auckland, and has raised her kids there, too.

She’s tired of feeling she needs to choose between the same-old Labour and Tory, and she wants to be a strong voice in parliament for her local community.

sam gorst

Sam is standing under the banner of Liverpool Community Independents with full endorsement from Transform. He’s a City Councillor for Liverpool Garston, and will be standing against Labour’s Maria Eagle in the GE.

He has worked within the NHS, nursing, and adult social care for most of his life. He’ll be fighting hard for local services in the area, as well as substantial pay rises for NHS staff.

He has consistently campaigned for a ceasefire in Gaza. Don’t vote for genocide; don’t vote for Labour.

transform’s left list:

This is how Transform introduced its Left List. We kept to our word: the List was updated weekly, we offered support and training to the candidates, and we’ve built relations with many of them which remain strong to this day. Left Unity is achievable !

“July 4th could well and truly be Independents’ Day, with many disillusioned voters ready to jump the Tory-Labour ship. We’ve decided to support and endorse the fantastic left candidates fighting up and down the country to win seats for their local constituents – NOT Westminster’s big corporate backers.

We’re encouraging our members to contribute to these campaigns in any way they can, whether it’s donating to their crowdfunders, door-knocking, or supporting them on social media.

We update our Left List weekly, and will be continuously editing this document!”
