Principal Speaker Role Description

Responsible for: Acting as a public spokesperson for Transform, giving media interviews and speaking on behalf of the organisation at internal and external events.

Time commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week, but could be varied.

Your responsibilities would be as follows:
● Serve as a key point of contact between Transform and the media, providing
interviews and/or background information as necessary, and otherwise representing
and speaking for the organisation.
● In close collaboration with the Communications Officer, develop and maintain strong
relationships with leading journalists and key media organisations, including print,
television, new media, etc.
● Identify opportunities to speak at internal and external events (demos, protests etc).
● Pitch articles to media outlets and write contributions for the Transform website.
● Working with the Communications Officer, grow your social media channels to build your personal and Party profile.

Person Specification

Essential
● Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
● High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to
position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
● Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all key stakeholders within Transform.
● Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly, accurately and effectively.

Desirable
● Relevant experience in communications or in a leadership role.
