Communications Officer Job Description

Job title: Communications Officer
Responsible for: Developing and implementing a pro-active communications strategy and taking responsibility for the day to day presentation of Transform’s policies and activities in the media.
Time commitment: Approximately 8 hours per week, but could be varied.

Your responsibilities would be as follows:
● Devise and implement a communications strategy.
● Develop and maintain strong relationships with leading journalists and key media
organisations, including print, television, new media, etc.
● Brief journalists and set up press conferences to promote the policies of Transform.
● Write press releases and media briefings.
● Build volunteer press and social media teams.
● Use social media to promote Transform, creating engaging, proactive and reactive
content across our social media channels.
● Monitor social media trends and activity to inform our campaigns.
● Develop a network of volunteer Communications Officers within local and regional
groups, to support the Party’s digital campaigns and help amplify our messaging.
● Provide media training for Principal Speakers and candidates.
● Provide advice and assistance to Transform representatives on media issues as
requested.
● Use email communications to drive online and offline action, including segmentation.
● Work with the Campaigns Officer and Election Officer to support member mobilisation and campaigning activity.
