Policy Officer 27th January 2025 Policy Officer Policy Officer Role DescriptionRole title: Policy OfficerResponsible for: Leading the development, implementation and review of the Party’spolicy-making processes and coordinating membership engagement. Time commitment: Approximately 8 hours per week, but could be varied.Transform is heading into a critically important phase of its development as we begin building a full, comprehensive manifesto ahead of the next general election. Your work as Policy Officer will support that process: from helping our volunteer team bring together our policies and proposals, to supporting our leadership team, spokespeople and candidates with briefings and policy responses and building relationships with campaign groups, trade unions and grassroots organisations.Your responsibilities would be as follows:● Lead and support the Party’s policy team and the wider membership in developingand drafting our manifesto policies.● Review the Party’s policy-making processes and lead the development andimplementation of any recommendations.● Lead policy meetings.● Effective liaison with relevant think tanks, campaigns groups and grassrootsorganisations.● Drafting a range of policy publications for internal and external stakeholders.● Managing extensive and effective records in relevant policy areas.● Briefing members on all aspects of Party policy.● Developing and maintaining policy networks inside and outside the Party, includingsupporting policy consultations and managing engagement around key policydecisions.● Ensuring the accuracy and quality of relevant Party documents and publications.Person SpecificationEssential● Excellent analytical skills and ability to process statistical information.● Knowledge and understanding of the current political situation.● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.● Knowledge and understanding of recent developments in policy and how they relateto the political environment.● Research skills and ability to write concise briefing notes.● Ability to work collaboratively with others.● Good organisation skills.Desirable● Previous experience working in campaigns or policy in a similar environment, e.g.,an NGO.● Experience of working with and motivating volunteers and groups of volunteers.● Experience of liaising and building relationships with campaign groups andgrassroots organisations.
